Aqaba Marine Park
Aqaba coasts have hundreds of coral and fish species with sea grass gardens creating a dizzying tapestry of colors and shapes. The complex vividness of our marine inheritance is juxtaposed against the stark beauty of the desert and mountains that melt into the blue waters of the Gulf of Aqaba. The need to safeguard this fragile wealth has led the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority in 1997 to establish the Aqaba marine park along the southern coast of the Jordanian Gulf of Aqaba, its approximately 7km in length. The Aqaba marine park is working to protect the marine environment by regulating the activities by zoning and by providing services such as car parks , WCs, walk ways, camping area, mooring buoys, etc.) and by informing and educating the public about the value of the park through the visitor center of the aqaba marine park.
